Do you want to make the most of your Open Studio event?

Come to this workshop to get ready and excited to host your next open studio. You’ll learn how to get the word out over the months prior to your event so you’re ready for a successful art event!

You'll gain know-how that you can implement right away and throughout the year with all of your outreach efforts. No matter your reasons for doing Open Studios—to sell work, share your art with designers, gallerists and collectors, or to have a party—this workshop will leave you feeling excited and ready to promote your Open Studio!

You'll learn:

  • How to promote your art studio event.

  • How to prepare for sales, even if you've never sold a piece.

  • Props you need.

  • How to engage visitors, even if you’re an introvert.

  • Three important activities to do after your studio event.

  • Success stories from artists who’ve done it right that’ll spark your own great ideas.

  • Outreach Calendar: A schedule for what to post and when.

  • Social Media Copy Me File: Social Media posts that you can copy and paste to get people there.

I want you to sell a ton of work this year so I’m giving you all the tools you need to make it happen.

Inviting the public into your art space can be a daunting task. In this workshop you’ll learn how to break down the prep process into easy, actionable steps that are doable, even for artists who are shy about sharing their work or overwhelmed by the thought of getting ready to show their art in such a personal way.

I’ll share examples of how you can make your next studio event even better. You’ll learn what real Sacramento artists did to get people in the door and to make sales.

This workshop is led by Kate Farrall, a Sac Open Studios volunteer and artist as well as a business guide for artists who want to earn more from their work. They’ve got amazing art and know that they absolutely have to do give their art a chance. She teaches artists to connect and engage with the right people who want to show their work and invest in their art, allowing them to get the recognition they deserve and make money doing the creative work they love.

Kate is also an artist who loves all things alternative photography. She has exhibited her work alongside the work of Marco Breuer, Heather Ackroyd and Dan Harvey, Binh Danh and Ann Hamilton. She holds a MFA in Photography from the California College of the Arts as well as a BA in Art History and a BA in Photography from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
